Question by wes the potato: How is the survival rate of cancer calculated?
I’m researching Lung cancer and wikipedia cites that the survival rate of lung cancer is 14% I’m curious on how they determine that percent, since everybody dies regardless of their cancer status. Since nobody survives life (or would it be called death?) how can one determine any survival rate?

Did more people have cancer in the past such as 1 A.D -1000A.D? What do you think is causing the increase in cancer rates today? Is it due to our own advancements?

they died before cancer could get to them in most cases. people didn’t live that long, maybe 35-45 years old. plus back then they couldnt detect cancer.
